ONE IN THE CHAMBER

One in the Chamber is a fast-paced, darkly comic science-fiction thriller centred on Nat, an operative caught in a deadly pursuit through the city with a mysterious glass device, an apparently unstoppable agent and only one bullet remaining. Ordered to steal what she has been told is a “conscious archive,” Nat must decide whether to complete her mission, save herself or destroy the technology before it falls back into the hands of those pursuing her.

The film balances genuine danger with Nat’s sharp, irreverent sense of humour. Throughout the story, she repeatedly breaks the fourth wall, speaking directly to the audience as the pressure closes in around her. Her sarcastic commentary, personal frustrations and flashes of vulnerability create an immediate relationship with the viewer, allowing the film to move between action, suspense, science fiction and black comedy without losing its human centre.

The role of Nat is being developed with actress Isabel Rainer Hart, whose training and physical abilities make her particularly well suited to the demands of the film. Isabel has undertaken firearms and fight training and has a background in gymnastics, giving her the movement, discipline and physical confidence required for a performance involving pursuit, weapons handling and sustained action. The role will also draw upon her comic timing and emotional range, as Nat uses humour and defiance to conceal the fear and exhaustion beneath her outward confidence.

At the centre of the story is the final bullet. Faced with a pursuer who appears impossible to stop, Nat chooses to fire not at the man but at the conscious archive itself. Her decision transforms the title into more than a reference to her limited ammunition: the single remaining round becomes her final act of control, resistance and sacrifice.

One in the Chamber is being designed for the film-festival circuit and as a debut showcase for both Rob Perrett and Isabel Rainer Hart. The project is intended to demonstrate Rob’s approach to direction, visual storytelling and genre filmmaking while providing Isabel with a demanding leading role that combines physical action, humour and emotional vulnerability.

A detailed production budget has been prepared, with crowdfunding divided into three separate campaigns covering pre-production, principal photography and post-production. Microscopic Cog Films is now preparing to launch the first campaign, which will fund the pre-production stage and allow the project to move forward on a properly planned and professional basis.

The film will only proceed when the required funding has been secured. Rob is committed to making One in the Chamber to the standard demanded by its action, performances, visual effects and festival ambitions, rather than compromising the project through insufficient resources. Each crowdfunding stage will therefore support a clearly defined phase of production, ensuring that the film is developed, photographed and completed with the necessary preparation, technical support and creative care.
