The Grim Photographer

The Grim Photographer is a life-sized sculpture that reimagines the traditional Grim Reaper—not with a scythe, but with a camera.

Rather than taking a life, he captures its final living moment: the last expression, the final memory, or the thought that passes through the mind just before death.

Would that moment hold happiness, fear, regret, love or peace? Would we remember a person, a place, or something we wish we had done differently?

Blending dark humour with thoughtful storytelling, The Grim Photographer explores our fascination with photography, memory and the passing of time. In a world where almost every moment is photographed and shared, the sculpture asks what the most important photograph of all might reveal.

The project will include the creation and public display of the sculpture, alongside a documentary following its development from the original idea through to the completed artwork.
